TRENDS & MARKET UPDATE
Taiwan’s Unemployment Rate at Its Lowest in 31 Months
Taiwan’s unemployment rate has dropped to 4.29, similar to levels before the economic crisis in 2008. However, salaries are still lower than they were 3 years ago.
In April, there were 10.648 million people employed, which is 19,000 more than in March. The highest increase in employment is in the wholesale and retail industry, with an employment increase of 17,000 people. The manufacturing industry has the second highest, with 16,000 more people employed.

The deputy director of the fourth bureau of Budget, Accounting, and Statistics Chen Min estimates that the unemployment rate will rise again from May until August due to an increase in the number of school graduates in the market.
