March Unemployment Rate Hit the Lowest for the Past 14 Months
The DGBAS (Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics of Executive Yuan) announced the unemployment rate of March is 5.67%, which is 0.09% lower than that of Feb. It is the lowest rate for the past 14 months. The unemployment rate has declined continuously in the past 7 months. In March, the middle-age (45-64 years old) unemployment is 5,000 less than Feb; the long-term (more than 1 year) unemployment is 3,000 less than Feb., the first reduction after last May.
The DGBAS said the job opportunities were increased mainly in manufacturing industry, public administration, and also in the office assistant service which uses a lot of dispatched workers. In April, the amount of job vacancy is 66% more than last April. Most job opportunities are in IT, electronics industry, semiconductor industry, and financial industry.
